Regular Season Round 8: Ferrol - Al-Qazeres 48-62

Date: November 5, 2016
The game in Ferrol was also worth to mention about. Sixth ranked Al-Qazeres (5-3) played at the court of 7th ranked Universitario de Ferrol (3-5). Al-Qazeres defeated Universitario de Ferrol 62-48. It looked good early as Universitario de Ferrol took a 1-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Al-Qazeres had a 15-4 second period charge getting the lead and Universitario de Ferrol was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 48-62. Al-Qazeres dominated on the defensive end, holding Universitario de Ferrol to just 4 points in second quarter. It was a great shooting night for Al-Qazeres especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 62.5 percentage. The best player for the winners was American power forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) who had a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import guard Ameryst Alston (175-93, college: Ohio St.) chipped in 14 points. Four Al-Qazeres players scored in double figures. Forward Maria Perez Araujo (182-97) produced a double-double by scoring 10 points and 13 rebounds and American swingman Shacobia Barbee (179-94, college: Georgia, agency: LBM Management) added 11 points and 8 rebounds respectively for the hosts. Al-Qazeres moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Araski. Universitario de Ferrol lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the eighth position with five games lost. Al-Qazeres' next round opponent will be league's second-placed Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca and it may be the game of the week. Universitario de Ferrol will play on the road against Araski (#5) in Vitoria-Gasteiz and hope to win that game.
