Regular Season Round 9: Beijing - Xinjiang 101-93

There was no surprise when 8th ranked Xinjiang (3-6) was defeated on the road by sixth ranked Beijing Great Wall (5-4) 101-93 on Saturday. Beijing Great Wall looked well-organized offensively handing out 23 assists comparing to just 10 passes made by Xinjiang's players. American center Sylvia Fowles (198-85, college: LSU) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 40 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds for the winners and the former international point guard Xiufeng Shi (178-87) chipped in 22 points. The best for the losing side was American power forward Candace Parker (193-86, college: Tennessee) with a double-double by scoring 24 points and 10 rebounds and Lana Di scored 22 points and 8 rebounds. Four Xinjiang players scored in double figures. Defending champion maintains sixth place with 5-4 record, which they share with Guangdong. Xinjiang lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the eighth position with six games lost. They share it with Heilongjiang. Beijing Great Wall will meet Heilongjiang Chenneng (#9) in the next round. Xinjiang will play against Liaoning Hengye in Anshan and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
