Regular Season Round 5: Civitanova - Fanola SML 54-37

Everything could happen in Civitanova Marche at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked Civitanova and 4th placed Fanola SML had identical 3-1 record. This time Civitanova used a home court advantage and beat the opponent from San Martino di L 54-37 on Sunday night. The game was mostly controlled by Civitanova. Fanola SML was better in third quarter 10-9. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Fanola SML to just 4 points in second quarter. Civitanova forced 26 Fanola SML turnovers. Forward Carolina Scibelli (182-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 7 rebounds. Guard Veronica Perini (175-88) contributed with 9 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Power forward Jasmine Keys (190-97) answered with 12 points and 6 rebounds and guard Francesca Beraldo (170-99) added 4 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Fanola SML. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Civitanova (4-1) moved-up to third place in A2. Newly promoted Fanola SML dropped to the sixth position with two games lost. Civitanova will face league's second-placed Marghera in Venezia in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Fanola SML will play at home against the league's leader Bologna (#1) and hope to win that game.
