Regular Season Round 6: Bottegone - Varese Robur 82-80

There was a surprise result when fifteenth ranked Bottegone (1-5) edged at home higher ranked Varese Robur (4-2) 82-80 on Sunday. Varese Robur was plagued by 30 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a good game for naturalized Bulgaria guard Georgi Sirakov (187-92, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 29 points. Daniele Toscano (196-93, agency: Players Group) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. The former international point guard Federico Bolzonella (184-84) replied with 30 points (went 7 for 7 at the free throw line) and power forward Alessio Sabbadini (201-93) added 15 points and 10 rebounds in the effort for Varese Robur. Varese Robur's coach Francesco Vescovi rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Bottegone left bottom position moving up to fourteenth place, which they share with Iseo and Fiorentina. Loser Varese Robur dropped to the second position with two games lost. Bottegone will face higher ranked Oleggio (#12) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Varese Robur will play against Siena Virtus (#9) and hope to win that game.
