Regular Season Round 14: Toyota Alvark - Akita NH 86-55

There was no surprise when 6th ranked Akita Happinets (3-11) were outleveled by second ranked Toyota Alvark (11-3) in Tokyo 86-55 on Sunday. The game without a history. Toyota Alvark led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Akita Happinets to just 6 points in first quarter. Toyota Alvark shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. American point guard Diante Garrett (196-88, college: Iowa St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 18 points and 5 assists. Swingman Zack Baranski (193-92) contributed with 14 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. American forward Deshawn Stephens (203-89, college: San Diego St.) replied with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 11 rebounds and guard Seiya Ando (184-92) added 7 points and 7 assists in the effort for Akita Happinets. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Toyota Alvark have a solid four-game winning streak. They keep a position of league leader, which they share with Toshiba BT. Akita Happinets lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the sixth place with 11 games lost. Toyota Alvark will face Hokkaido L. (#5) in Saporro in the next round. Akita Happinets will play on the road against Chiba Jets and hope to win that game.
