Regular Season Round 15: Toyotsu FE - Tokyo Excel. 76-82

The most surprising game was a loss of top-ranked Toyotsu FE (12-2) in Nagoya on Sunday night. Hosts were defeated by sixth ranked Tokyo Excel. (4-10) 82-76. It ended at the same time the 11-game winning streak of Toyotsu FE. Toyotsu FE was tied after three quarters but could not keep up in the last quarter eventually losing the game. It was a great shooting night for Tokyo Excel. especially from behind the arc, where they had solid 52.6 percentage. It was a good game for American center Ryan Stephan (208-94, college: Colorado Mesa) who led his team to a victory with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 15 rebounds. His fellow American import center Luke Evans (203-91, college: Cal.Baptist) contributed with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Four Tokyo Excel. players scored in double figures. Tokyo Excel.'s coach used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American forward Rodney Carney (201-84, college: Memphis) answered with a double-double by scoring 23 points and 10 rebounds and guard Kei Sugimoto (182-92) added 18 points and 9 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) in the effort for Toyotsu FE. Tokyo Excel. maintains sixth place with 4-10 record. Toyotsu FE at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They share it with Hiroshima D. and Kumamoto V.. Tokyo Excel. are looking forward to face higher ranked Shinshu BW (#5) in Nagano in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Toyotsu FE will play on the road against the league's second-placed Nishinomiya S. (#2) in Hyogo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
