Regular Season Round 7: UCAM Murcia II - L Alfas 72-48

Not a big story in a game when bottom-ranked L Alfas (0-5) was outscored on the road by leader UCAM Murcia II (5-0) 72-48 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by UCAM Murcia II. L Alfas was better in fourth quarter 14-12. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. UCAM Murcia II forced 20 L Alfas turnovers and outrebounded them 44-28 including a 31-17 advantage in defensive rebounds. Quite impressive performance for Jose Ortega (188-97) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. Center Sergio Mendiola (207-96) contributed with 6 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Belarusian power forward Ivan Zhauniarovich (205-86) answered with 11 points and 9 rebounds and Alejandro Rivas added 10 points in the effort for L Alfas. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The victory was the fifth consecutive win for UCAM Murcia II. They keep a position of Group E leader, which they share with Myrtia. L Alfas lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. UCAM Murcia II will face Cartagena (#9) on the road in the next round and are hoping to win another game. L Alfas will play against Almassera and hopes to get finally their first victory.
