Regular Season Round 4: Guangdong ST - Liaoning FL 124-115

The biggest surprise took place in Dongguan where host Guandong Tigers (2-2) beat league's leader Liaoning Hunters (3-1) 124-115 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the three-game winning streak of Liaoning Hunters. Guandong Tigers dominated down low during the game scoring 72 of its points in the paint compared to Liaoning Hunters' 46. Guandong Tigers forced 22 Liaoning Hunters turnovers. Strangely Liaoning Hunters outrebounded Guandong Tigers 57-45 including 23 on the offensive glass. 27 personal fouls committed by Liaoning Hunters helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. American guard Donald Sloan (190-88, college: Texas A&M) fired 36 points (!!!), 6 rebounds and 9 assists for the winners. The former international Jianlian Yi (212-87) chipped in 42 points (!!!). Guandong Tigers' coach Feng Du used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American Lester Hudson (190-84, college: Tenn-Martin) produced 38 points (!!!), 7 rebounds and 4 assists and his fellow American import forward Shavlik Randolph (208-83, college: Duke) added 26 points and 20 rebounds respectively for lost side. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Guandong Tigers moved-up to eighth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Liaoning Hunters at the other side dropped to the third position with one game lost. They share it with 4 other teams. They were replaced at the leadership position by Shanghai S.. Liaoning Hunters will play next round against Leopards trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Guandong Tigers will try to continue on its current victory against first ranked Shanghai Sharks on the road.
