Regular Season Round 4: Shanghai S. - Guangzhou LL 92-80

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Shanghai Sharks as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Liaoning Hunters) loss. Shanghai Sharks defeated bottom-ranked Guangzhou at home 92-80. Shanghai Sharks made 19-of-25 charity shots (76.0 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three nailing 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. Guangzhou was plagued by 24 personal fouls down the stretch. Worth to mention a great performance of American point guard Jimmer Fredette (188-89, college: BYU) who helped to win the game recording 32 points and 4 assists. Guard Wei Lu (194-85) contributed with 17 points and 6 rebounds for the winners. Iranian forward Mohammad Samad Nikkhah Bahrami (199-83) replied with 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and American point guard Ryan Boatright (183-92, college: Connecticut) added 19 points and 5 assists in the effort for Guangzhou. Five Guangzhou players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Shanghai Sharks have a solid four-game winning streak. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with Xinjiang FT. Guangzhou at the other side still closes the standings with four games lost. They share the position with Bayi R. and Jiangsu TX. Guangzhou will play next round against Fujian trying to get back on the winning streak. Shanghai Sharks will try to continue on its current victory against thirteenth ranked Guandong Tigers at Dongguan.
