Regular Season Round 14: SeaHorses - Shiga L-Stars 86-73

The game had a very big importance for second-ranked Aishin Sea Horses as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Diamond Dolphins) loss. Aishin Sea Horses defeated 6th ranked Shiga L-Stars in Kariya 86-73. The game was mostly controlled by Aishin Sea Horses. Shiga L-Stars was better in second period 18-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Aishin Sea Horses dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Shiga L-Stars' 34. They outrebounded Shiga L-Stars 41-23 including a 17-5 advantage in offensive rebounds. American power forward Gavin Edwards (206-88, college: Connecticut) scored 23 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) to lead the charge for the winners and the other American import center Isaac Butts (208-89, college: Appalachian St.) chipped in 15 points and 14 rebounds during the contest. Four Aishin Sea Horses players scored in double figures. Aishin Sea Horses' coach Kimikazu Suzuki allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Zimbabwean-American Julian Mavunga (203-90, college: Miami, OH, agency: Pensack Sports) responded with a double-double by scoring 27 points, 11 rebounds and 5 assists and center Samba Faye (205-87) scored 12 points. As mentioned above they took over a top position. Shiga L-Stars at the other side keep the sixth place with 12 games lost. Shiga L-Stars will play next round against strong Osaka Evessa trying to get back on the winning streak. Aishin Sea Horses will try to continue on its current victory against fifth ranked Kyoto Hannar. on the road.
