Regular Season Round 14: San-en - Niigata Albirex 87-92

We could consider it a predictable result in the game between close teams when third ranked Niigata Albirex (8-6) won against second-ranked Sanen Neophoenix (9-5) in Hamamatsu 92-87 on Sunday. The game without a history. Niigata Albirex led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 62 of its points in the paint compared to Sanen Neophoenix's 42 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. American power forward Clint Chapman (208-89, college: Texas) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 12 rebounds. The other American import Davante Gardner (203-91, college: Marquette) contributed with 23 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Four Niigata Albirex players scored in double figures. American forward Robert Dozier (206-85, college: Memphis) replied with 19 points and 7 rebounds and guard Shuto Tawatari (185-90) added 13 points and 5 rebounds in the effort for Sanen Neophoenix. Sanen Neophoenix's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Niigata Albirex maintains third position with 8-6 record having just three points less than leader Tochigi Brex, which they share with Hitachi SR. Loser Sanen Neophoenix keeps the second place with five games lost. Niigata Albirex will face league's leader Toshiba Thunders in Kanagawa in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Sanen Neophoenix will play on the road against Hitachi Sunrockers in Tokyo and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
