There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Polonia Bytom (5-4) beat one of their biggest challengers AZS KU PO (4-3) in Opole 83-75 on Sunday. The guests trailed by 7 points after three quarters before their 33-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Polonia Bytom made 23-of-25 free shots (92.0 percent) during the game. Point guard Tomasz Wrobel (186-85) orchestrated the victory by scoring 16 points and 8 assists. Emil Podkowinski (194-88) contributed with 20 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Wojciech Leszczynski (190-92) replied with 22 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and point guard Krzysztof Chmielarz (180-88) added 12 points and 5 assists in the effort for AZS KU PO. AZS KU PO's coach Jedrzej Suda let to play eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Polonia Bytom moved-up to fourth place in Group C. Newly promoted AZS KU PO dropped to the fifth position with three games lost. Polonia Bytom will face MKS DG 2 (#9) in Dabrowa Gornicza in the next round where they are favorite. AZS KU PO will play at home against MCKiS Jaworz. (#6) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
