Regular Season Round 5: MKS DG - Stelmet ZG 83-77

Very important is a road loss of third ranked Stelmet (4-2) against fifth ranked MKS Dabrowa Gornicza (4-2) on Sunday night. Visiting Stelmet was defeated by MKS Dabrowa Gornicza in a tough game in Dabrowa Gornicza 77-83. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Stelmet. It looked good early as Stelmet took a 9-point lead at the end of first quarter. But then MKS Dabrowa Gornicza took control and eventually winning the game that evening by 6 points. They dominated down low during the game scoring 48 of its points in the paint compared to Stelmet's 26. Stelmet was plagued by 27 personal fouls down the stretch. The former international Bartlomiej Woloszyn (196-86) orchestrated the victory by scoring 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists. Naturalized Ukrainian Vitaliy Kovalenko (204-84) contributed with 17 points and 5 rebounds for the winners. Four MKS Dabrowa Gornicza players scored in double figures. Montenegrin Nemanja Djurisic (203-92, college: Georgia) answered with 17 points and 9 rebounds and the former international swingman Przemyslaw Zamojski (193-86, college: Independence CC) added 19 points in the effort for Stelmet. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza moved-up to second place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Stelmet. MKS Dabrowa Gornicza will play against Stal Ostrow Wlkp. (#15) on the road in the next round which should be an easy win for them. Stelmet will play against the league's second-placed Krosno (#2) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
