Regular Season Round 14: Sendai 89ers - Chiba Jets 75-85

Everything could happen at the game between two tied teams. Both third ranked Chiba Jets and one of their biggest challengers Sendai 89ers had identical 6-7 record. But Sendai 89ers were not able to use a home court advantage and lost to the opponent from Chiba 85-75 on Sunday night. The guests trailed by 5 points after first quarter, but they rallied back to get the 1-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 85-75. American Tyler Stone (203-91, college: SE Missouri St.) orchestrated the victory by scoring 19 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists. The other American import forward Michael Parker (202-81, college: Evergreen St.) contributed with a double-double by scoring 14 points and 12 rebounds for the winners. Five Chiba Jets players scored in double figures. South Africa center Tshilidzi Nephawe (208-89, college: N.Mexico St.) replied with 17 points and 8 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and center Jieye Sakamoto (206-86) added 9 points and 13 rebounds in the effort for Sendai 89ers. Chiba Jets maintains third position with 7-7 record having four points less than leader Tochigi Brex, which they share with Osaka Evessa and Ryukyu GK. Sendai 89ers lost third consecutive game. They keep the fourth place with eight games lost. Chiba Jets will face Akita Happinets (#6) at home in the next round. Sendai 89ers will play against the league's leader Tochigi Brex and hope to win that game.
