Regular Season Round 3: Azad - Chemidor 89-71

Another exciting game was a derby match between two teams from Tehran: Azad (#3) and Chemidor (#8). Azad (2-0) crushed visiting Chemidor (0-2) by 18 points 89-71. The game without a history. Azad led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 60 of its points in the paint compared to Chemidor's 34. Azad forced 24 Chemidor turnovers. It was a great evening for American swingman J.P. Prince (203-87, college: Tennessee) who led his team to a victory scoring 24 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. His fellow American import power forward Joseph Jones (206-86, college: Texas A&M) helped adding 22 points (on 11-of-13 shooting from the field). Four Azad players scored in double figures. The best for the losing side was the former international forward Amir Sedighi (203-93) with 17 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Lithuania power forward Povilas Cukinas (210-83) scored 14 points. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Azad will play against Kashan (#4) on the road in the next round. Chemidor will play against Naft Abadan and hopes to get finally their first victory.
