We cannot really consider it an upset in the game between close teams when 9th ranked Boca Juniors (3-10) lost to tenth ranked Hispano Am. (2-10) in Buenos Aires 64-70 on Tuesday. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Boca Juniors won third quarter 18-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. The game was decided in the last minutes when Hispano Am. won last quarter 29-25. They made 23-of-29 free shots (79.3 percent) during the game. They also forced 19 Boca Juniors turnovers. Boca Juniors was plagued by 29 personal fouls down the stretch. American power forward Rashaun Freeman (206-84, college: Massachusetts) orchestrated the victory by scoring 13 points and 9 rebounds. The former international swingman Mariano Byro (194-82) contributed with 13 points and 4 assists for the winners. Hispano Am.'s coach Bernardo Murphy allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. Greek Fotios Lampropoulos (206-83) replied with a double-double by scoring 17 points and 13 rebounds (was perfect 7-for-7 from the free throw line) and center Eduardo Vassirani (200-91) added 14 points and 12 rebounds in the effort for Boca Juniors. Newly promoted Hispano Am. maintains tenth position in Sur with 2-10 record. Boca Juniors lost fourth consecutive game. They keep the ninth place with ten games lost. Hispano Am. will face higher ranked Ferrocarril (#4) in Buenos Aires in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game.
