Regular Season Round 8: Castello - Forca Lleida 77-80

Thirteenth-ranked Castello (2-5) gave a tough game to second ranked Lleida Basquet (7-1) in Castellon. The visitors from Lleida managed to secure only three-point victory 80-77. However their fans expected much easier game. The guests were tied after three quarters but managed to speed up in last quarter eventually winning the game. The winners were led by American guard Garrett Nevels (188-92, college: Hawaii) who scored that evening 19 points and 5 rebounds and the former international power forward Alfonso Alzamora (206-79) supported him with 13 points and 7 rebounds. Even 24 points by guard Eduardo Duran (190-91, agency: Duran International) did not help to save the game for Castello. Center Maodo Nguirane (210-93) added 7 points and 11 rebounds for the hosts. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Lleida Basquet keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Coruna. Castello lost third consecutive game. They keep the thirteenth place with five games lost. They share the position with Caceres. Lleida Basquet will play against Gipuzkoa (#4) in San Sebastian in the next round. Castello will play on the road against Leche Rio Breogan (#3) in Lugo and hopes to get back on the winning track.
