Regular Season Round 8: Coruna - Burgos 83-76

LEB Gold top team - Leyma Basquet (7-1) added another victory to their record. This time they beat sixth ranked Burgos (4-4) in Coruna 83-76. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Burgos won third quarter 20-14. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Dominican swingman Dagoberto Pena (198-88, college: Marshall, agency: Duran International) orchestrated the victory by scoring 23 points and 7 rebounds. American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Duran International) contributed with 15 points and 5 assists for the winners. Serbian center Goran Huskic (210-92, college: Howard Col., TX) replied with 14 points and 6 rebounds and center Javier Vega (205-88) added 8 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Burgos. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Leyma Basquet have an impressive five-game winning streak. They maintain first position with 7-1 record, which they share with Forca Lleida. Burgos at the other side dropped to the ninth place with four games lost. Leyma Basquet's next round opponent will be Caceres Basket (#13) on the road which should be an easy win for them. Burgos will play against Marin (#17) and hope to win that game.
