Regular Season Round 5: Shandong GS - Beikong FD 114-92

Very predictable result when ninth ranked Shandong Bulls (3-2) rolled over 16th ranked North Control (1-4) in Jinan 114-92 on Wednesday. Shandong Bulls dominated down low during the game scoring 84 of its points in the paint compared to North Control's 44. Shandong Bulls forced 20 North Control turnovers. American forward Jason Thompson (211-86, college: Rider) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 33 points (!!!) and 13 rebounds (on 13-of-17 shooting from the field). His fellow American import point guard Norris Cole (188-88, college: Cleveland St.) contributed with 30 points and 8 assists for the winners. Five Shandong Bulls players scored in double figures. Uruguayan-Spanish power forward Esteban Batista (208-83, agency: Duran International) answered with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 19 rebounds and Taiwanese guard Chin-Min Yang (195-84) added 25 points in the effort for North Control. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Shandong Bulls moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Loser North Control dropped to the fifteenth position with four games lost. Shandong Bulls will face higher ranked Zhejiang Guangsha Lions (#4) in Hangzhou in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. North Control will play on the road against TianJin Steel (#11) in Tianjin and hope to win that game.
