Regular Season Round 5: Fujian S. - Guangzhou LL 96-91

Bottom-ranked Guangzhou is still unable to win any game. This time they lost on the road their fifth consecutive match to tenth ranked Fujian (3-2) 96-91 on Wednesday evening. Fujian made 17-of-21 free shots (81.0 percent) during the game. Guangzhou was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. American forward J.J. Hickson (206-88, college: N.Carolina St.) orchestrated the victory with a double-double by scoring 25 points and 13 rebounds. International Zhelin Wang (215-94) contributed with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 13 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Five Fujian players scored in double figures. Iranian forward Mohammad Samad Nikkhah Bahrami (199-83) answered with a double-double by scoring 34 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds and American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) added 29 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Guangzhou. Guangzhou's coach Andrea Mazzon tried various players' combinations and tested in total twelve players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Fujian moved-up to sixth place, which they share with 6 other teams. Guangzhou lost their fifth game in a row. They still close the standings with five games lost. Fujian will face Guandong Tigers (#14) in Dongguan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guangzhou will play at home against Sichuan BW (#9) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
