Regular Season Round 7: Jyvaskyla BA - Lahti 49-76
Date: November 11, 2016
The game in Jyvaskyla supposed to be also quite interesting. Second ranked Lahti (6-2) played at the court of 8th ranked Jyvaskyla BA (2-4). Lahti smashed Jyvaskyla BA 76-49 on Friday. The game without a history. Lahti led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Jyvaskyla BA to just 6 points in fourth quarter. Lahti held Jyvaskyla BA to an opponent 22.1 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.9 percent accuracy of the winners and made 28-of-36 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Lahti had a 36-24 advantage in offensive rebounds. Jyvaskyla BA was plagued by 26 personal fouls down the stretch. It was a great evening for guard Sami Ikavalko (187-89) who led his team to a victory scoring 18 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists (made all of his seven free throws). American power forward Jerald Fields (201-82, college: E.Tenn.St.) helped adding 12 points and 7 rebounds. Four Lahti players scored in double figures. At the losing side Bahamas forward Winslo Barry (208-90, college: Incarnate Word) responded with 5 points and 9 rebounds and point guard Robert Juvonen (185-91) scored 9 points. Since the result was very predictable, it gave the chance for the coaches to test many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Lahti keeps a position of Division leader. Newly promoted Jyvaskyla BA keeps the eighth place with four games lost. Lahti will face Pyrinto II (#9) in Tampere in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Jyvaskyla BA will play on the road against the league's second-placed ToPo in Helsinki and hope to win that game.
