Regular Season Round 9: Forca Lleida - Gipuzkoa GBC 71-73

The game had a very big importance for fourth-ranked Gipuzkoa as it allowed them to take a leadership position after previous leader's (Leyma Basquet) loss. Gipuzkoa edged second-best Lleida Basquet on the road 73-71. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Lleida Basquet. It was a key game for the top position in the league. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Lleida Basquet won fourth quarter 22-16. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. It was a good game for forward Sergi Pino (197-87, agency: Interperformances) who led his team to a victory with 18 points and 4 assists. Point guard Ricardo Uriz (188-80) contributed with 13 points and 4 steals for the winners. Four Gipuzkoa players scored in double figures. Forward Gerard Sevillano (196-94) answered with 22 points (on 8-of-9 shooting from the field) and Brazilian forward Leonardo Demetrio (203-94) added 11 points and 9 rebounds in the effort for Lleida Basquet. Both coaches tested many bench players in such tough game. As mentioned above they are at the top of the standings, which they share with 3 other teams including defeated Lleida Basquet. Lleida Basquet will play next round against Melilla Baloncesto trying to get back on the winning streak. Gipuzkoa will try to continue on its current victory against fourth ranked Leche Rio Breogan at Lugo.
