Regular Season Round 6: Limbazi - Kekava 58-90

Rather expected game when one of their biggest challengers Limbazi (5-2) was smashed at home by top-ranked Kekava (8-0) 90-58 on Friday. The game without a history. Kekava led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated down low during the game scoring 54 of its points in the paint compared to Limbazi's 34 and made 18-of-23 free shots (78.3 percent) during the game. It was a good game for forward Niks Saknitis (203-92) who led his team to a victory with 16 points and 7 rebounds. Forward Agnis Cavars (196-86) contributed with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 4 assists for the winners. Cavars is a former Eurobasket Summer League player, which is considered top international summer league in the market. Five Kekava players scored in double figures. Kekava's coach Edgars Teteris felt very confident that he used 11 players saving starting five for next games. Forward Inguss Immers (194-93) replied with 19 points and forward Normunds Feierbergs (198-75) added 8 points and 16 rebounds in the effort for Limbazi. Kekava have an impressive eight-game winning streak. Newly promoted Kekava maintains first position with 8-0 record, which they share with Turiba. Loser Limbazi dropped to the second place with two games lost. Kekava will face Ventspils Augstskola (#5) at home in the next round. Limbazi will play against the league's second-placed Jelgava and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
