There was a small surprise when seventh ranked Sydney Uni Flames (3-3) beat at home 7th ranked Boomers (3-6) 87-75. The game was mostly controlled by Sydney Uni Flames. Boomers was better in second period 27-19. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Sydney Uni Flames players were unselfish on offense dishing 29 assists. The best player for the winners was American forward Asia Taylor (185-91, college: Louisville, agency: LBM Management) who scored 20 points, 7 rebounds and 7 assists. Belinda Snell (180-81) chipped in 15 points, 5 rebounds and 8 assists. Five Sydney Uni Flames players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was forward Kelly Bowen (182-89, college: Gonzaga) who recorded 19 points and American guard Brittany Smart (175-85, college: Cedarville) added 12 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists respectively. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Sydney Uni Flames moved-up to sixth place. Boomers lost fifth consecutive game. They keep the seventh position with six games lost. Sydney Uni Flames' next round opponent will be higher ranked Townsville Fire (#4) at home and it may be quite challenging game. Boomers will play against Dandenong Rangers and hope to win that game.
