Regular Season Round 8: Meridiano Baza - Coin 73-64

No shocking result in a game in Alicante where second ranked Meridiano Baza (4-2) won against 5th ranked Coin (2-4) 73-64 on Saturday. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 27-18. But Coin won third quarter 14-9. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Coin 40-23 including 18 on the offensive glass. Worth to mention a great performance of point guard David Garcia (180-93) who helped to win the game recording 21 points and 5 assists and center Javier Mesa (206-77) who added 17 points and 9 rebounds during the contest. Center Juan Vasco (200-83) responded with 15 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists and guard Juan Mendez (181-85) scored 16 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Both coaches used bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Newly promoted Meridiano Baza maintains second position in Group D-A with 4-2 record having just two points less than leader Leon. Loser Coin dropped to the sixth place with four games lost.
