Regular Season Round 6: San Salvatore - Bolzano 73-50
Date: November 12, 2016
Not a big story in a game when 12th ranked Bolzano (1-5) was rolled over on the road by seventh ranked San Salvatore (4-2) 73-50 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by San Salvatore. Bolzano was better in third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Bolzano to just 6 points in first quarter and to 14 points in first half. San Salvatore forced 20 Bolzano turnovers and outrebounded them 39-28 including a 32-20 advantage in defensive rebounds. Slovenia power forward Ana Ljubenovic (185-88) scored 10 points and 8 rebounds to lead the charge for the winners and Francesca Russo (178-96) chipped in 13 points and 4 steals during the contest. San Salvatore's coach Fabrizio Staico felt very confident using 11 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Croatia power forward Ivona Matic (189-86) with 15 points and 8 rebounds and guard Xhovana Cela (170-97) scored 15 points and 5 rebounds. San Salvatore moved-up to fifth place in A2. Bolzano at the other side keeps the twelfth position with five games lost. San Salvatore will face league's leader Sesto SG in Sesto San Giovanni in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Bolzano will play at home against Cagliari CUS (#11) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
