Regular Season Round 6: Alpo VF - Palermo 70-55

There was a minor upset in Verona where 8th ranked Palermo (1-4) was defeated by tenth ranked Alpo VF (2-4) 70-55 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Alpo VF. Palermo was better in third quarter 19-10. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They made 21-of-27 free shots (77.8 percent) during the game. Alpo VF forced 29 Palermo turnovers. Bosnian Marina Dzinic (190-92) scored 27 points and 5 rebounds (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) to lead the charge for the winners and guard Roberta Di Gregorio (172-90) chipped in 11 points and 5 rebounds (went 8 for 8 at the free throw line) during the contest. Alpo VF's coach Nicola Soave used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. The best for the losing side was Croatia forward Ivana Blazevic (184-93) with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Elettra Ferretti (175-93) scored 13 points and 9 steals. Alpo VF moved-up to ninth place in A2. Palermo at the other side dropped to the tenth position with four games lost. Alpo VF will face higher ranked Udine Delser (#7) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Palermo will play against Castellammare and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
