Regular Season Round 8: Gijon - Estudiantes L. 71-85

Very predictable result when third ranked Estudiantes L. (5-1) defeated on the road 11th ranked Gijon (2-4) 85-71 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Estudiantes L.. Gijon was better in fourth quarter 29-21. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Strangely Gijon outrebounded Estudiantes L. 30-16 including a 23-11 advantage in defensive rebounds. Worth to mention a great performance of Pablo Cordoba (182-97) who helped to win the game recording 20 points and Lithuania forward Modestas Paulauskas (210-95) who added 13 points during the contest. American point guard Nyles Evans (180-92, college: Akron) responded with 18 points and forward Dani Gonzalez (202-84) scored 14 points and 5 rebounds. Five Estudiantes L. and four Gijon players scored in double figures. Gijon's coach let to play ten players and allowed the starting five to rest. Estudiantes L. moved-up to second place in Group A-B, which they share with Chantada. Loser Gijon dropped to the tenth position with four games lost.
