The game with biggest result difference took place in Plata Hidalgo. Local Garzas (4-5) outscored 7th ranked Ciudad (3-6) 97-78 on Saturday night. The hosts trailed by 1 point at the halftime before their 62-42 charge in the second half, which allowed them to win the game. Garzas outrebounded Ciudad 43-27 including 32 on the defensive glass. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 34 assists. American forward Tyrone White (201-90, college: CSU Bakersfield) stepped up and scored 27 points for the winners and the former international forward Stephen Soriano (200-85, college: Colorado Mesa) chipped in 17 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. The best for the losing side was the former international power forward Arim Solares (202-83) with 21 points and 5 assists and American guard John Taylor (185-89, college: Fresno Pacific) scored 21 points. Both coaches tested many bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Garzas moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Barreteros and Soles. Ciudad at the other side dropped to the eighth position with six games lost. Garzas will meet bottom-ranked Correcaminos (#10) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Ciudad will play against Toros in Nuevo Laredo and hope to secure a win.
