Regular Season Round 8: Cholet - Strasbourg 86-90

Date: November 12, 2016
Bottom-ranked Strasbourg IG managed to get a third victory on Saturday night. This time they won against fourteenth-ranked Cholet Basket 90-86. The guests trailed by 9 points after three quarters before their 31-18 charge, which allowed them to win the game. Strasbourg IG made 19-of-23 free shots (82.6 percent) during the game. They shot the lights out from three sinking 15 long-distance shots on high 68.2 percentage. The winners were led by American-Polish point guard A.J. Slaughter (191-87, college: W.Kentucky, agency: BeoBasket) who scored that evening 27 points (perfect from downtown making all five shots) and American-FYR Macedonia Romeo Travis (201-84, college: Akron) supported him with 8 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. Strasbourg IG's coach Vincent Collet used a ten-player rotation in such tough game. Even 17 points and 7 rebounds (on 7-of-8 shooting from the field) by American swingman David Noel (201-84, college: N.Carolina) did not help to save the game for Cholet Basket. Center Jerry Boutsiele (207-92) added 14 points and 6 rebounds for the hosts. Four Cholet Basket players scored in double figures. Strasbourg IG (3-5) moved-up to twelfth place, which they share with 4 other teams including defeated Cholet Basket. Cholet Basket lost third consecutive game. Strasbourg IG will meet at home higher ranked Limoges CSP Elite (#7) in the next round and they do not belong to the favorites in that game. Cholet Basket will play against the league's leader Monaco (#1) and will have a slim chance for a victory.
