Regular Season Round 7: Nice - Villeneuve 71-65
Date: November 12, 2016
An interesting game took place in Nice where higher ranked Villeneuve D'Ascq (4-3) was upset on the court of ninth ranked Nice (3-4) 71-65. It looked good early as Villeneuve D'Ascq took a 3-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Nice had a 19-10 second period charge getting the lead and Villeneuve D'Ascq was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-71. Worth to mention a great performance of American forward Ambrosia Anderson (186-84, college: BYU, agency: Two Points) who helped to win the game recording 18 points and 7 rebounds. Her fellow American import power forward Victoria Macaulay (193-90, college: Temple, agency: Two Points) contributed with a double-double by scoring 10 points and 10 rebounds for the winners. Nice's coach Rachid Meziane used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. International center Aby Gaye (195-95, agency: Comsport) answered with 13 points and 7 rebounds and international point guard Olivia Epoupa (165-94, agency: Comsport) added 10 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists in the effort for Villeneuve D'Ascq. Four Villeneuve D'Ascq players scored in double figures. Nice moved-up to seventh place, which they share with Nantes and Lyon. Villeneuve D'Ascq at the other side keeps the fifth position with three games lost. Nice's next round opponent will be league's second-placed Basket Landes in Mont de Marsan and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Villeneuve D'Ascq will play at home against the league's leader Bourges having rather not much hope for a victory.
