Regular Season Round 9: Avenida - Al-Qazeres 52-49

The most exciting game of round 9 in the LFB took place in Salamanca. This derby game ended with only three-point defeat on the road of 4th placed Al-Qazeres (5-4) to second ranked Perfumerias Avenida (8-1) 52-49 on Saturday evening. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Al-Qazeres. The hosts started the game with a very strong first quarter 24-10. But Al-Qazeres won second period 16-6. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Perfumerias Avenida dominated on the defensive end, holding Al-Qazeres to just 4 points in third quarter. Nigeria-American forward Adaora Elonu (185-90, college: Texas A&M, agency: Josep and Nicolas) stepped up and scored 12 points and 8 rebounds for the winners and Serbian Jelena Milovanovic (190-89) chipped in 10 points. The best for the losing side was American power forward Julie Forster (185-91, college: Albany) with 23 points and 9 rebounds and Croatia-Italian center Dubravka Dacic (201-85) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 15 rebounds. Perfumerias Avenida have a solid series of three victories in a row. Defending champion maintains second place with 8-1 record behind leader Girona. Newly promoted Al-Qazeres dropped to the fifth position with four games lost. They share it with Cadi La Seu. Perfumerias Avenida are looking forward to face league's leader Argon Uni Girona on the road in the next round and it will be for sure the game of the week. Al-Qazeres will play against Araski (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
