Regular Season Round 9: Keflavik - Grindavik 84-66

Date: November 12, 2016
No shocking result in a game when second ranked Keflavik (7-2) beat at home bottom-ranked Grindavik (2-7) 84-66 on Saturday. The game was mostly controlled by Keflavik. Grindavik managed to win third quarter 19-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. American guard Dominique Hudson (165-89, college: Gardner-Webb) nailed 30 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists for the winning side and forward Thelma Agustsdottir (179-98) accounted for 18 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field). Keflavik's coach Sverrir Sverrisson used a ten-player rotation which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. American swingman Ashley Grimes (175-91, college: UAB) came up with a double-double by scoring 20 points, 10 rebounds and 9 assists and the former international center Maria Ben Erlingsdottir (187-88, college: UTRGV) added 14 points respectively for Grindavik in the defeat. Keflavik keeps a position of league leader, which they share with Snaefell. Grindavik lost third consecutive game. They dropped to the bottom place with seven games lost. Keflavik will meet Haukar (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Grindavik will play against Skallagrimur and hope to secure a win.
