Regular Season Round 8: Sozh-GGU - Olimpia 51-89

Very significant was Olimpia GrGAU's (#3, 5-1) victory against one of their biggest challengers Sozh-GGU (3-3) 89-51. It ended at the same time the two-game winning streak of Sozh-GGU. The game without a history. Olimpia GrGAU led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. Olimpia GrGAU forced 19 Sozh-GGU turnovers and outrebounded them 46-32 including a 33-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. Olimpia GrGAU shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 56.5 percentage. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 29 assists comparing to just 15 passes made by Sozh-GGU's players. Worth to mention a great performance of forward Olga Kopylova (187-82) who helped to win the game recording 16 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists and the former international Tatsiana Dashkevich (178-89) who added 21 points (on 8-of-10 shooting from the field) during the contest. Four Olimpia GrGAU players scored in double figures. Olimpia GrGAU's coach felt very confident using entire bench which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. Center Tatsiana Rebianchuk (186-88) responded with a double-double by scoring 16 points and 14 rebounds and guard Marina Rakovskaia (173-92) scored 14 points. Olimpia GrGAU have a solid three-game winning streak. They maintain third position with 5-1 record behind leader Gorizont. Sozh-GGU at the other side keeps the fourth place with three games lost. Olimpia GrGAU are looking forward to face Gorizont II (#6) in Minsk in the next round. Sozh-GGU will play on the road against the league's second-placed Tsmoki-Minsk and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
