Regular Season Round 13: Niigata R. - Mitsubishi K. 65-72

Bottom-ranked Niigata R. (0-11) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their 11th consecutive match to sixth ranked Mitsubishi K. (8-3) 72-65. The guests took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Niigata R. won third quarter 28-13. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Mitsubishi K. dominated on the defensive end, holding Niigata R. to just 1 points in second quarter. They outrebounded Niigata R. 48-28 including a 29-14 advantage in defensive rebounds. International center Risa Nishioka (184-97) nailed a double-double by scoring 16 points and 10 rebounds for the winning side and power forward Yuka Kosuge (180-91) accounted for 10 points and 11 rebounds. Point guard Megumi Yamasawa (162-96) came up with 19 points and forward Inoue Ai (172-90) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for Niigata R. in the defeat. Niigata R.'s coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. The victory was the seventh consecutive win for Mitsubishi K.. They maintain sixth place with 8-3 record. Niigata R. lost their eleventh game in a row. They still close the standings with 11 games lost. They share the position with Aishin AW and Yamanashi QB. Mitsubishi K. will have a break next round, and it should allow them to practice more before next game. Niigata R. will play again at home against Mitsubishi K. (#6) and hopes to get finally their first victory.
