There was a surprise result when tenth ranked JA Vichy (3-2) beat at home 4th placed JL Bourg (3-2) 86-72 on Saturday. The hosts trailed by 8 points after first quarter, but they stormed back and won the game by 14 points. American-Ivorian swingman Derrick Byars (201-84, college: Vanderbilt, agency: Inception Sports) orchestrated the victory by scoring 24 points and 7 rebounds. American point guard Dustin Ware (183-90, college: Georgia) contributed with 18 points and 7 assists for the winners. Four JA Vichy players scored in double figures. American center Zachery Peacock (203-87, college: Georgia Tech) answered with a double-double by scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds and Maxime Courby (200-90) added 15 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for JL Bourg. The victory was the third consecutive win for JA Vichy. They moved-up to fourth place, which they share with 6 other teams including defeated JL Bourg. JA Vichy will face STB Le Havre (#6) on the road in the next round. JL Bourg will play against the league's second-placed Charleville-Mezieres and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
