Regular Season Round 1: Aisin AW - Tokyo Big Blue 76-65

Very expected game in Aichi where Tokyo Big Blue (0-3) was defeated by Aisin AW (3-0) 76-65. It looked good early as Tokyo Big Blue took a 2-point small lead at the end of first quarter. But then Aisin AW had a 23-10 second period charge getting the lead and Tokyo Big Blue was not able to take back game control losing it eventually 65-76. Aisin AW players were unselfish on offense dishing 22 assists. It was a very good performance for guard Kyouhei Kumazawa (180-88) who helped to win the game recording 7 points, 13 rebounds and 11 assists. Point guard Watanabe Takumi (181-89) contributed with 14 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized American forward Ken Tanaka (188-81, college: Whittier) answered with a double-double by scoring 15 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists and American center Matthew Kyle (211-86, college: Yale) added 17 points and 6 rebounds in the effort for Tokyo Big Blue. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. Tokyo Big Blue's coach rotated ten players in this game, but that didn't help. Aisin AW's next round opponent will be Tokyo Cinq R. (#4) at home and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. Tokyo Big Blue's supporters look forward to an exciting derby game next round, where their team will travel locally in Tokyo to the arena Tokyo HT.
