There was a minor upset when 7th ranked Scrivia (3-3) was crushed on the road by ninth ranked Orvieto (3-2) 58-31 on Sunday. The game without a history. Orvieto led from the first minutes and controlled entire game increasing their lead in each quarter. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Scrivia to just 3 points in third and fourth quarters and to 12 points in second half. Orvieto held Scrivia to an opponent 22.8 percent shooting from the field compared to 35.2 percent accuracy of the winners. Orvieto forced 28 Scrivia turnovers. Guard Greta Brunelli (176-90) scored 22 points and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and Lithuania power forward Gintare Mazionyte (188-91, college: Texas) chipped in 12 points and 8 rebounds during the contest. The best for the losing side was center Clara Salvini (180-92) with 13 points and Finnish forward Krista Gross (183-90, college: N.Carolina, agency: Interperformances) scored 9 points and 8 rebounds. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Orvieto moved-up to seventh place in A2. Scrivia at the other side dropped to the ninth position with three games lost. Orvieto will face higher ranked Team Crema (#4) on the road in the next round and it may be quite challenging game.
