Regular Season Round 8: Valencia - Baskonia 99-91

Date: November 13, 2016
The game in Valencia was also worth to mention about. 4th ranked Baskonia (5-3) played at the court of fifth ranked Valencia Basket (5-2). Valencia Basket managed to secure a 8-point victory 99-91. The hosts took control from the first minutes by winning first half. But Baskonia won fourth quarter 33-31. However it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Valencia Basket made 24-of-31 charity shots (77.4 percent) during the game. 27 personal fouls committed by Baskonia helped opponents get some easy free throw opportunities. The best player for the winners was French point guard Antoine Diot (193-89, agency: Comsport) who scored 28 points and 6 assists. The former international swingman Fernando San Emeterio (199-84) chipped in 9 points and 9 rebounds. American point guard Shane Larkin (180-92, college: Miami, FL) produced 26 points, 8 assists and 4 steals (was perfect 11-for-11 from the free throw line !!!) and German center Johannes Voigtmann (211-92) added 14 points and 7 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Valencia Basket and five Baskonia players scored in double figures. Both coaches tested many bench players and allowed the starting five to rest. Valencia Basket moved-up to fourth place, which they share with Andorra. Baskonia at the other side dropped to the sixth position with three games lost. Valencia Basket's next round opponent will be Joventut (#16) in Badalona which should be an easy win for them. Baskonia will play at home against CAI Zaragoza (#12) and hope to win that game.
