Regular Season Round 9: ViVe - Kouvot 79-64

Date: November 13, 2016
Another interesting game for ViVe (4-5) which hosted in Vimpeli against 4th placed Kouvottaret (5-4). Seventh ranked ViVe had an easy win 79-64. The game was mostly controlled by ViVe. Kouvottaret was better in third quarter 23-14. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Kouvottaret 54-30 including a 38-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. American players dominated the game. Forward Olivia Nash (185-94, college: Oakland) stepped up with a double-double by scoring 18 points and 17 rebounds (on 7-of-9 shooting from the field) for the winners and swingman Lele Hardy (182-88, college: Clemson, agency: Regeneracom Sports) chipped in 17 points and 11 rebounds. The best for the losing side was forward Whitney Frazier (180-92, college: Louisiana Tech) with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 5 steals and forward Jacqueline Luna-Castro (188-93, college: Charleston) scored 10 points and 9 rebounds. Both coaches used bench players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. ViVe moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Huima and Catz. Newly promoted Kouvottaret keeps the fourth position with four games lost. ViVe will play against bottom-ranked Peli-Karhut (#10) in Kotka in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Kouvottaret will play on the road against Forssan Alku (#3) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
