An exciting game between Top Four teams was played in Joensuu. Second ranked Joensuun Kataja faced 4th ranked BC Nokia. Host Joensuun Kataja (7-2) smashed guests from Nokia (4-5) 102-75. The hosts trailed by 3 points after first quarter, but they stormed back to get the 4-point lead at the halftime and eventually won the game 102-75. Joensuun Kataja dominated down low during the game scoring 64 of its points in the paint compared to BC Nokia's 38. Joensuun Kataja forced 23 BC Nokia turnovers. Joensuun Kataja looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. The former international point guard Teemu Rannikko (189-80) fired a double-double by scoring 18 points and 10 assists for the winners. Canadian guard Daniel Mullings (188-91, college: N.Mexico St.) chipped in 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists. American guard Isaiah Wilkerson (191-90, college: NJIT) produced 20 points and forward Eldar Skamo (198-86) added 9 points, 8 rebounds and 5 assists respectively for lost side. Five Joensuun Kataja and four BC Nokia players scored in double figures. The winner was already known earlier in the game, so both coaches allowed to play the bench players saving starting five for next games. Joensuun Kataja maintains second position with 7-2 record having just two point less than leader Helsinki Seagulls. BC Nokia at the other side keeps the fourth place with five games lost. They share the position with 3 other teams. Joensuun Kataja is looking forward to face Kauhajoen Karhu (#7) in Kauhajoki in the next round where they are favorite.
