Regular Season Round 7: HyPo - JyWe 96-79

Rather predictable result in Hyvinkaa where seventh ranked HyPo (4-3) defeated 10th ranked JyWe (2-5) 96-79 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by HyPo. JyWe was better in third quarter 26-23. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They shot the lights out from three sinking 13 long-distance shots on high 54.2 percentage. It was a great evening for American guard De'Andre Upchurch (188-91, college: Tarleton St.) who led his team to a victory scoring 39 points (!!!), 9 rebounds and 5 assists. Forward Ilkka Blomqvist (196-84) helped adding 14 points and 11 rebounds. HyPo's coach Besim Maxhuni used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. At the losing side guard Aleksi Kantonen (188-95) responded with 19 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists and Russia power forward Alexei Ekimov (210-81) scored 13 points and 9 rebounds. Both teams had four players each who scored in double figures. HyPo moved-up to sixth place in Division. Newly promoted JyWe dropped to the eleventh position with five games lost. HyPo will face higher ranked Raholan Pyrkiva (#3) in Tampere in the next round and it will be quite challenging to get another victory. JyWe will play at home against Namika Lr (#13) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
