The game in Ashdod was also quite interesting. One of their biggest challengers Hapoel Jerusalem (3-3) played at the court of eighth ranked Maccabi Ashdod (3-3). Maccabi Ashdod defeated Hapoel Jerusalem 70-57 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Maccabi Ashdod. Hapoel Jerusalem managed to win second period 16-15. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They outrebounded Hapoel Jerusalem 43-28 including a 34-21 advantage in defensive rebounds. International swingman Adam Ariel (192-94) notched 18 points and 7 rebounds to lead the effort and the former international Jake Cohen (209-90, college: Davidson) supported him with 17 points and 9 rebounds. Even 15 points by American guard Jerome Dyson (191-87, college: Connecticut) did not help to save the game for Hapoel Jerusalem. His fellow American import point guard Curtis Jerrells (185-87, college: Baylor, agency: Stealth Sport) added 16 points. Maccabi Ashdod moved-up to third place, which they share with 5 other teams including defeated Hapoel Jerusalem. Maccabi Ashdod will meet Maccabi Haifa (#9) on the road in the next round where they are favorite. Hapoel Jerusalem will play against the league's leader Maccabi T-A (#1) in Tel-Aviv and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
