Regular Season Round 9: Caceres - Coruna 88-84

The biggest surprise took place in Caceres where host Caceres Basket (3-5) beat Leyma Basquet (7-2) 88-84 on Sunday evening. It ended at the same time the five-game winning streak of Leyma Basquet. Leyma Basquet was trailing by 11 points at halftime but managed to get 1-point lead after three quarters before a 20-15 charge of Caceres Basket, which allowed them to win the game. The best player for the winners was Montenegrin guard Nikola Rakocevic (191-91, agency: Dynamics Global Management) who scored 26 points. Forward Sergio Perez (205-79) chipped in 18 points and 6 rebounds (on 6-of-7 shooting from the field). Four Caceres Basket players scored in double figures. At the other side the best for losing team was American guard Zach Monaghan (188-92, college: Minn.St.-Mankato, agency: Duran International) who recorded 25 points, 7 rebounds and 4 assists and Javier Lucas (207-87) added 11 points respectively. Both coaches used bench players in such tough game. Caceres Basket moved-up to eleventh place. Leyma Basquet at the other side still keeps top position with two games lost. They were joined at the leadership position by Forca Lleida who have the same record. Leyma Basquet will play next round against Palencia Baloncesto trying to make it back to the top of the standings. Caceres Basket will try to continue on its current victory against twelfth ranked Marin on the road.
