Regular Season Round 8: Albacete - Alcazar 77-67

We should mention about the upset which took place in Albacete, where higher ranked Alcazar (4-4) lost to thirteenth ranked Albacete (3-5) in a road game 67-77 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Albacete. Alcazar was better in fourth quarter 21-17. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Albacete dominated down low during the game scoring 40 of its points in the paint compared to Alcazar's 20. The best player for the winners was American guard Jeffrey Short (193-92, college: Norfolk St.) who scored 23 points and 6 rebounds. Cuba forward Georvys Elias (199-81) chipped in 13 points, 6 rebounds and 5 assists. American forward Ibrahim Djambo (208-92, college: Hofstra) produced 16 points and 9 rebounds and forward Pablo Villarejo (194-92) added 14 points and 5 rebounds respectively for the guests. Four Alcazar players scored in double figures. Alcazar's coach David Varela gave the chance to play for eleven players, but that didn't help to avoid defeat in this game. Albacete moved-up to tenth place, which they share with 3 other teams. Alcazar at the other side, also newcomer in the league, keeps the seventh position with four games lost. Albacete will face Gandia (#15) on the road in the next round where they are favorite.
