Regular Season Round 6: Guangzhou LL - Sichuan BW 97-103

Bottom-ranked Guangzhou (0-6) is still winless. This time they could not use their home court advantage losing their sixth consecutive match to ninth ranked Sichuan BW (4-2) 103-97 on Sunday evening. Guangzhou was plagued by 32 personal fouls down the stretch. Iranian center Hamed Haddadi (218-85) had a double-double by scoring 29 points, 21 rebounds, 4 assists and 4 steals to lead the charge for the winners and the former international point guard Wei Liu (190-80) chipped in 31 points, 5 rebounds and 4 assists (went 9 for 9 at the free throw line !!!) during the contest. The best for the losing side was American center Alex Kirk (211-91, college: N.Mexico, agency: Pensack Sports) with a double-double by scoring 19 points and 16 rebounds and Iranian forward Mohammad Samad Nikkhah Bahrami (199-83) scored 27 points and 7 rebounds. Four Sichuan BW and five Guangzhou players scored in double figures. Both coaches used bench players saving starting five for next games. Sichuan BW have a solid three-game winning streak. Defending champion moved-up to fifth place, which they share with Beijing D. and Qingdao E. Loser Guangzhou still closes the standings with six games lost. Sichuan BW will face Guandong Tigers (#12) in Dongguan in the next round and are hoping to win another game. Guangzhou will play at home against the league's second-placed Xinjiang Flying Tige (#2) and looks forward to get finally their first victory.
