Regular Season Round 9: Eskilstuna - Hoganas 105-68
Date: November 13, 2016
No shocking result in a game when third ranked Eskilstuna (6-1) smashed at home bottom-ranked Hoganas (0-7) 105-68 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Eskilstuna. Hoganas was better in third quarter 16-13. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. Eskilstuna dominated down low during the game scoring 66 of its points in the paint compared to Hoganas' 40. Eskilstuna forced 22 Hoganas turnovers and outrebounded them 47-29 including 17 on the offensive glass. The best player for the winners was guard Hannes Widell (183-94) who had a double-double by scoring 37 points (!!!) and 10 rebounds. British-Cameroonian forward Franck Kouagnia (201-89) chipped in a double-double by scoring 25 points and 14 rebounds. Four Eskilstuna players scored in double figures. Eskilstuna's coach Steven Hopkins felt very confident that he used 10 players which allowed the starters a little rest for the next games. At the other side the best for losing team was Croatian forward Egon Ruhek (-99) who recorded 25 points and 8 rebounds and Lithuanian center Martynas Kuksta (203-89) added 19 points and 6 blocks respectively. The victory was the sixth consecutive win for Eskilstuna. They moved-up to second place, which they share with Koping. Hoganas lost their seventh game in a row. They still close the standings with seven games lost. Eskilstuna will face Helsingborg (#8) at home in the next round which should be theoretically another easy game. Hoganas will play against Wetterbygden (#4) in Huskvarna and hope to get finally their first victory.
