Regular Season Round 10: AZS KU PO - Pogon RS 89-77

Everything could happen in Opole at the game between two tied teams. Both sixth ranked AZS KU PO and 7th ranked Pogon RS had identical 4-4 record. This time AZS KU PO used a home court advantage and won against the opponent from Ruda Slaska 89-77 on Sunday night. AZS KU PO made 17-of-19 free shots (89.5 percent) during the game. They looked well-organized offensively handing out 22 assists. Point guard Krzysztof Chmielarz (180-88) fired 16 points, 9 rebounds and 5 assists for the winners. Wojciech Leszczynski (190-92) chipped in 16 points and 5 assists (made all of his eight free throws). Four AZS KU PO players scored in double figures. AZS KU PO's coach Jedrzej Suda used an eleven-player rotation saving starting five for next games. Forward Aleksander Maslanka (195-91) produced 9 points and 12 rebounds and point guard Mateusz Pawlik (180-92) added 16 points and 4 assists respectively for lost side. AZS KU PO (5-4) moved-up to fifth place in Group C, which they share with Rybnik. Loser Pogon RS keeps the seventh position with five games lost. AZS KU PO will face higher ranked MCKiS Jaworz. (#4) in Jaworzno in the next round and it may be quite challenging game. Pogon RS will play at home against MKS DG 2 and hope to win that game.
