Regular Season Round 7: Groningen - Rotterdam 77-59
Date: November 13, 2016
Rather expected game when 5th ranked Rotterdam (2-4) was defeated on the road by second ranked Groningen (6-1) 77-59 on Sunday. The game was mostly controlled by Groningen. Rotterdam managed to win second period 19-16. But it was not enough to take a lead and get a victory that evening. They dominated on the defensive end, holding Rotterdam to just 5 points in third quarter. Groningen made 21-of-24 free shots (87.5 percent) during the game, while Rotterdam only scored four points from the stripe. They outrebounded Rotterdam 46-30 including a 38-23 advantage in defensive rebounds. American swingman Jason Dourisseau (196-83, college: Nebraska) fired 19 points and 7 rebounds for the winners. Naturalized Dominican point guard Tjoe de Paula (185-81, agency: Court Side) chipped in 17 points. Groningen's coach Erik Braal used entire bench and allowed the starting five to rest. American guard La'Shard Anderson (185-89, college: Boise St.) produced 11 points and 4 assists and forward Michael Kok (190-91) added 13 points respectively for lost side. Defending champion used an opportunity after Zwolle lost their game and moved up joining them at the top position. Loser Rotterdam keeps the fifth place with four games lost. Groningen will meet at home Dukes UDB (#6) in the next round which should be theoretically an easy game. Rotterdam will play against Leiden and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
