No shocking result in a game when second ranked Panathinaikos (4-1) beat 6th ranked Niki Lefkadas (2-3) in Athens 54-38. Panathinaikos held Niki Lefkadas to an opponent 24.6 percent shooting from the field compared to 37.9 percent accuracy of the winners. They outrebounded Niki Lefkadas 46-31 including a 34-22 advantage in defensive rebounds. The best player for the winners was American center Shamela Hampton (191-87, college: UNLV) who scored 20 points and 8 rebounds. Her fellow American import forward Janae Smith (188-92, college: UAB) chipped in a double-double by scoring 11 points, 12 rebounds and 6 assists. Panathinaikos' coach allowed to play the deep bench players saving starting five for next games. American forward Elan Brown (183-91, college: Vanderbilt) produced a double-double by scoring 18 points and 11 rebounds and guard Victoria-Konstantina Gounari (172-95) added 7 points respectively for the guests. The victory was the third consecutive win for Panathinaikos. They maintain second place with 4-1 record behind leader Olympiacos, which they share with Panathlitikos. Niki Lefkadas at the other side keeps the sixth position with three games lost. Panathinaikos' next round opponent will be league's leader Olympiacos in Ellinikou and it will be for sure the game of the week. Niki Lefkadas will play at home against Panionios (#4) and it may be a tough game between close rivals.
